Hi Leute,

ich habe auf der Arbeit im Büro seit Ewigkeiten unglaublich nervige Probleme mit meinen beiden externen LG Displays und das ganze macht mich noch wahnsinnig, weil das jetzt schon so lange so geht und ich einfach keine Lösung finde. Es handelt sich bei beiden Exemplaren um den LG 27UK650-W. Anfänglich dachte ich, dass es in irgendeiner Weise mit dem 2020er Intel iMac zusammenhängt, den ich bis vor kurzem noch hatte. Ich habe aber letztens ein brandneues MacBook Pro mit M1 Max bekommen und die Probleme sind einfach geblieben. Ich schließe daher aus, dass der Mac nicht in Ordnung ist.

Aber von vorne:
Seit wir hier Monterey haben, spinnen die externen Bildschirme bei mir einfach total. Das Merkwürdige ist aber, dass ich der einzige mit dem Problem bin. Es passiert regelmäßig, dass die externen Bildschirme plötzlich ihr Signal verlieren. Bildschirm wird Schwarz und dann steht da "no signal". Im Prinzip so, als würde man das Kabel rausziehen.
Neben den beiden LGs lasse ich noch das iPad via Sidecar laufen, damit ist aber alles ok.

Als ich noch den iMac hatte, war es so, dass die Bildschirme dann auch gar nicht mehr von alleine wieder angingen, sondern ich bekam erst wieder ein Bild wenn ich das Kabel raus- und wieder reingesteckt hab. Mit dem MacBook hingegen ist es jetzt so, dass die Bildschirme zwar Schwarz werden, sich aber nach einigen Sekunden von alleine wieder fangen. Man kann währenddessen sehen dass macOS darauf auch reagiert, denn beim internen Bildschirm des MacBooks stellt sich dann kurzzeitig alles um (Fenster werden neu angeordnet etc.) weil das System denkt ich hätte die Bildschirme rausgezogen. Das war beim iMac noch anders, da hat macOS gedacht dass die Bildschirme ganz normal angeschlossen sind, nur die Bildschirme selber haben gemeldet dass es kein Signal gibt. Da die Symptome also nicht haargenau gleich sind, weiß ich gar nicht, ob das überhaupt die ganze Zeit die gleichen Probleme sind oder ob das jetzt beim MacBook eine völlig andere Ursache hat.

Ist aber auch egal, das Problem ist, dass ich einfach nicht mehr weiß was ich noch ausprobieren soll:

• Beide Monitore sind jeweils via HDMI -> USB-C mit dem Mac verbunden (also HDMI auf der Monitorseite, USB-C auf der Mac-Seite). Die Kabel habe ich bereits mit Arbeitskollegen getauscht um zu prüfen, ob die einen weg haben -> Problem bleibt bei mir unverändert, bei Arbeitskollegen alles ok
• Ich habe einen anderen Monitor angeschlossen (gleiches Modell, aber frisch gekauft) -> Problem bleibt
• Als ich das MacBook bekam, habe ich absichtlich kein Backup wiederhergestellt, sondern das System frisch eingerichtet, meinen Benutzer neu angelegt, alle Daten manuell gezogen -> Problem bleibt

Es ist mir völlig unbegreiflich, wie man so dermaßen Probleme mit externen Bildschirmen haben kann, obwohl augenscheinlich alles in Ordnung ist. An guten Tagen passiert es vielleicht mal den gesamten Tag nicht. Meist tritt das Problem aber zahlreiche Male am Tag auf. Manchmal schon nach 5 Minuten.

Ich hätte ja sonst noch den Gedanken, dass die GPU völlig überfordert ist. Aber mal davon abgesehen, dass der M1 Max nicht gerade schwach auf der Brust ist und auch mit ein paar zusätzlichen 4k-Monitoren klarkommen muss, muss ich ja nicht mal großartig was dafür tun um die Probleme zu provozieren: die Bildschirme gehen auch aus selbst wenn der Mac überhaupt nicht gefordert wird.

Das einzige was mir jetzt noch blieb ist die Konsole mal mitlaufen zu lassen, abzuwarten bis die Bildschirme mal wieder die Verbindung verlieren und dann gucken was genau in dem Moment so für Meldungen kommen. Den Teil habe ich jetzt einfach mal kopiert, allerdings verstehe ich davon nichts. Vielleicht kann ja jemand helfen. Theoretisch muss die Ursache ja hier drinstehen:

Kannst Du nicht einfach ein USB-C Alternate Mode-DisplayPort-Kabel verwenden?
Der Leidensdruck ist ja groß genug, nachzufragen, dann ist er ja vielleicht auch groß genug, die 20 Euro auszugeben ;)
Da das alle bidirektionale Kommunikation ist, kann es auch sein, dass der Monitortyp das Problem verursacht.
Tritt das Problem nicht mehr auf, wenn Du das PowerManagement am Mac und Monitor deaktivierst?

Ich habe fast das gleiche Problem, "fast" deshalb weil es bei mir nur beim booten auftritt, d.h. der Bildschirm bleibt so lange schwarz bis ich das TB-Kabel kurz abgezogen habe. Der Mac hat zwischenzeitig ganz normal gebootet, sobald das Kabel wieder steckt kanns sofort losgehen. Das Ganze passiert bei mir 5-6 Mal im Monat, gerade eben wars wieder mal soweit.

Danke, den Tipp mit DisplayPort werde ich probieren. Ich sag morgen mal Bescheid, dass die ein paar USB-C-DisplayPort-Kabel bestellen sollen. Aber warum kann das einen Unterschied machen? Hätte ich nicht gedacht. Aber mal sehen.

Meinst du mit Power Management, dass ich einfach mal komplett deaktivieren soll dass MacBook und Monitore irgendwann in Standby gehen? Keine Ahnung, nie getestet. Aber das Problem tritt ja jederzeit auf wenn ich davor sitze, da hab ich demnach bisher keinen Zusammenhang gesehen.

ah, ok - ganz sicher? Nicht, dass Du ein paar Minuten nicht die Maus geschubst hast und vielleicht doch ein Power Management zuschlagen wollen würde ;)
Auf jeden Fall halte ich DisplayPort für einen verheißungsvollen Test. HDMI funktioniert schon länger (noch nie) völlig reibungslos, wobei fairerweise gesagt werden muss, dass das auch Consumergrütze ist. Billig ist noch zu teuer.

Nee, da bin ich schon sicher. Das passiert auch einfach mitten bei der Arbeit.
Aber ein paar USB-C-DisplayPort-Kabel sind unterwegs, die kommen bestimmt schon morgen. Dann wird auf jeden Fall getestet und sollten die Probleme dadurch behoben sein, werd ich auf jeden Fall berichten für den Fall dass mal jemand den gleichen Mist erlebt!

Das ist seit 2014 ein gängiges Problem bei allen Macs und vielen externen Monitoren. Welcher Anschlusstyp verwendet wird, hat einen gewissen Einfluss, der Wechsel behebt das Problem aber nicht hundertprozentig.

Beim LG 27UK650-W soll es oft helfen, in den Einstellungen des Monitors eine andere HDMI-Kompatibilitätsversion einzustellen.

Das stimmt, auch mein LG Monitor hat immer wieder Verbindugsprobleme am Mac, am PC verhält er sich völlig normal. Auf Dauer wird wohl nur die Lösung bleiben, diese Monitore nicht in Verbindung mit einem Mac zu betreiben.

Wahrscheinlich musst Du Dich dann entweder vom Mac trennen, oder vom LG oder eben in den sauren Apfel beißen, einen externen Monitor von Apple anzuschließen in der Hoffnung, damit keine Probleme zu haben.

Dürfte auch schwierig werden dieses Problem über ein Forum zu lösen. Auf die Protokolle aus der Konsole würde ich mich nicht stützen. (Kabel tauschen zu reinem USB-C könnte zumindest einige Probleme zwar nicht lösen aber vielleicht mindern).

Danke für die ganzen Tipps. Seit gestern habe ich die neuen Kabel dran und bisher ist alles so wie es sein soll. Noch keinen einzigen Abbruch gehabt. Mit HDMI wäre es bis hierhin schon wieder 5-10 Mal passiert.
Mir fiel noch ein, dass selbst wenn die Verbindung da war, die Monitore manchmal ein leichtes Flimmern/Flackern hatten. Auch das gibt es jetzt nicht mehr.

Will mich jetzt nicht zu früh freuen, aber bisher sieht es aus als sei alles behoben.
