Liebe Community, ich - normale Anwenderin, also keine Software Spezialistin - werde bald verrückt. Seit Monaten ist mein IMAC super lahm, hochfahren kann schon mal 30-45 Minuten dauern. Viele Anwendungen starten langsam oder gar nicht. Seit gestern z.B. Firefox überhaupt nicht mehr. Also zurück zu Safari, auch langsam (am Internet liegt es nicht, das Macbook läuft prima) und seit gestern kann ich mich z.B. überhaupt nicht mehr bei ebay-Kleinanzeigen einloggen. Es klappt bis Nutzername und Passwort, aber auf "Einloggen" klicken geht dann schon nicht mehr. Hat hier jemand Ideen? Es ist ein Imac 27Zoll von Ende 2012. macOS Catalina Version 10.15.7. Ich würde mich SEHR über Vorschläge freuen. Vielen Dank und schönen 2.Advent!

Nebenbei - bei einem 2012 iMac mit reiner HDD ist Catalina auch nicht optimal. Die meisten Nutzer berichten hier von extrem langsamen Geräten. Catalina + APFS Disk Format + HDD ist halt nicht optimiert.

Wenn Du Deinen iMac daher etwas Beine machen willst gönne ihn eine interne SSD - oder wenn es preiswerter und schneller gehen soll - eine externe USB SSD anschließen und darauf das Betriebssystem installieren... in dem Fall Catalina.

Aber Du kannst ja mal EtreCheck posten - vielleicht entdecken wir ja da die eine oder andere Bremse, oder Antivirus Programm oder Cleaner Programm...

Moin, das habe ich bei meinem auch gemacht und seitdem rennt die Kiste wieder 😊

Einziger Nachteil: Es kommt öfter vor, dass wenn ich den iMac aus dem Ruhezustand hole, der iMac abschmiert und ich einen Hardreset machen muss (Anschalter lange halten, etc....)

Aber ansonsten ist das eine gute Alternative, dem Gerät neues Leben einzuhauchen 😀

Das ist richtig. Aber auch auch mit Catalina und einer HDD als Bootlaufwerk ist eine Bootzeit von 30Minuten und mehr nicht mehr wirklich als normal anzusehen. Es kommen da meiner Meinung nach mehrere mögliche Ursachen in Frage:
-Die Festplatte ist dabei den Geist aufzugeben. Der Mac ist dadurch gezwungen verschiedene Dateien mehrfach zu laden bis es endlich klappt. Überprüfe doch mal erstens den SMART-Status des Laufwerks im Festplatten-Dienstprogramm und zweitens das Logbuch "Alle Mitteilungen" in der Konsole.app (Dienstprogramme) auf häufige I/O-Fehler.
- Nicht sauber deinstallierte Reste von älteren Programmen lasten die CPU stark aus, da sie gerne mal Amok laufen. Das kann mann u. U. in der Aktivitätsanzeige.app (Dienstprogramme) sehen.
-Bei der Installation von Catalina ist etwas schief gelaufen., so dass das System nicht richtig funktioniert.

Du hast 52 32bit Applikationen auf dem Rechner. Die werden von Catalina nicht mehr unterstützt.

Gehe mal mit der rechten Maustaste im Finder auf die Festplatte. Dann Speicher verwalten. Unter "Chaos reduzieren" findest Du eine Spalte mit allen nicht unterstützten Apps. Alle löschen und durch 64 bit Alternativen ersetzen.

Vintage hardware - This computer may be considered vintage.

Der Computer ist einfach schlicht veraltet. Man kann evtl. noch die mech. Festplatten durch SSDs ersetzen. Das System wie von einigen Vorpostern beschrieben, softwareseitig bereinigen (nicht mehr unterstützte Programme entfernen). Aber ein Rennpferd wird vermutlich nicht daraus entstehen.

Sofern man den Rechner dazu in den Service geben muss, weil man im Bekanntenkreis niemanden kennt, der günstig die Wartung machen kann, muss man rechnen, ob sich der Service sich noch rechnet.

Auch wenn man Hardware so lange wie möglich nutzen soll aus Umweltsicht, ist manchmal die klassische Neuanschaffung eine gute Alternative. Den alten Rechner kann man ja als Notreserve behalten, sofern er noch läuft.

Abgesehen davon sollte auch dieses Gerät nicht die Probleme aufweisen, die im Eröffnungspost beschrieben sind. Das kann mein 2008er MacBook Pro noch besser/schneller.

Meiner Einschätzung nach gibt es zwei hauptsächlich zu vermutenden Ursachen: entweder stirbt die Festplatte gerade und/oder es muss mal ordentlich bei der installierten Software aufgeräumt werden.

Schalte bitte mal über Systemeinstellungen > Datenschutz den Zugriff für Etrecheck auf die gesamte Festplatte frei.

Also, er hält ja schon länger als ein PC je gehalten hat.

Ein neuer imac kommt in den nächsten Monaten, das steht schon fest... nur eben nicht sofort und bis dahin muss ich irgendwie zurechtrkommen, oder einfach aufgeben und mich dann zur Not nur mit dem Macbook begügnen. Ich mache das noch mal mit dem etrecheck und datenschutzfreigabe und setze um, was ich kann. Vielen Dank erst mal, bis später.
