Mac neu aufsetzen

Hallo,

ich arbeite auf einem iMac. Da der recht langsam geworden ist, habe ich ihn einmal komplett neu aufgesetzt und das alles händisch. Das heißt, jedes Programm einzeln installiert und Dateien, die ich noch brauchte rübergezogen. Das hat gut funktioniert, das Teil lief wieder schneller.

Das Einzige, das nicht lief, war Onedrive, hier wird mir dauerhaft angezeigt, dass die Dateien synchronisiert werden, also nicht ob sie auf dem Rechner runtergeladen oder in der Cloud sind. Ein Hin und Her mit dem Microsoft-Support ergab, dass ich mal einen neuen Benutzer anlegen sollte und schauen, ob das Problem dort auch existiert. So habe ich es auch gemacht und tatsächlich funktionierte es unter dem neuen Nutzer. Nun war der Mac aber sehr langsam. Also den Nutzer wieder gelöscht, hat nichts genützt.

Ich würde jetzt gerne den Mac noch einmal neu aufsetzen, in der Hoffnung, dass die Änderungen durch die Anlage eines neuen Nutzers, die vielleicht noch irgendwo verblieben sind, zu entfernen. Ich möchte aber nicht mehr alles von Hand machen. Wie sollte ich am besten vorgehen?
Alle Daten runterladen, TimeMachine-Backup machen, auf dem Mac alles löschen, formatieren und aus dem TimeMachine-Backup wiederherstellen? Oder habe ich die Nutzergeschichte dann immer noch drin? (Die Probleme mit Onedrive werde ich damit vermutlich nicht lösen können, ärgerlich, da es im Office-Paket mit drin ist.)

Zur Info: Der iMac ist aus der Serie Ende 2015, ich arbeite auf macOS Big Sur und möchte vorerst auch darauf bleiben.

Ja, klar, ist "langsam" relativ. Er braucht halt zum Teil eine Minute, ehe er ein Programm geöffnet hat. Wobei das vor allem Office-Programme betrifft. Entscheidend ist für mich, dass es schneller war, bevor ich den zweiten Nutzer angelegt hatte. Es geht also - trotz altem Rechner - schneller. Daher wüsste ich gerne einen komfortablen Weg, wie ich den zweiten Nutzer vollständig wieder loswerden kann.

Beim Neuaufsetzen hast Du das Fusion Drive nicht einmal als Fusion Drive eingerichtet.

Wenn Fusion Drive im Finder als zwei Laufwerke anstelle eines einzigen angezeigt wird, funktioniert es nicht mehr als Fusion Drive. Gehe wie folgt vor, um dies zu beheben.

Ich weiß nicht, ob das für Big Sur auch gültig ist.

Das Fusion Drive braucht etwas, bis es optimiert ist. Benutz den Rechner einfach, das wird sich selbst darum kümmern.
Der Festplattenanteil ist langsam im Vergleich zu einer SSD und vor allem nicht für zufälligen oder parallelen Zugriff gemacht. Du musst warten, bis die Wartungsarbeiten des Systems abgeschlossen sind (OneDrive z.B.), weil die vermutlich Daten hochladen oder indizieren. Danach könnte sich die Geschwindigkeit auf die normale Geschwindigkeit die dieses billige Gerät erreichen könnte einpendeln. Mir unverständlich, warum man soviel Geld ausgibt und das bisserl mehr für die SSD, die daraus einen ganz anderen Rechner macht, nicht mitnimmt. Aber man hat ja damals schon geredet und niemand wollte hören.

Quick workaround: externe SSD kaufen und darauf installieren. 1TB sollten um die 120 Euro kosten.

Ehrlich gesagt wusste ich gar nicht, dass ich Fusion Drive habe, geschweige denn, was es ist. 😅 Billig fand ich den Rechner damals beim Kauf nicht und ich wusste auch nicht, dass er Fusion Drive hat bzw. anderes möglich gewesen wäre. Ich habe einmal Arbeitsspeicher aufgerüstet, meinst du das vielleicht? Die externe Festplatte hängt nur für die TimeMachine dran, eine andere Funktion soll die gar nicht haben.

Bei "Speicher" sind nur die RAM aufgelistet. Die haben mit SSD/HDD nicht viel zu tun.

Du hast in dem Mac eine 24GB SSD und eine 1TB HDD. Ein Fusion Drive verbindet diese beiden Laufwerke so, dass du quasi nur noch eines siehst. Programme und Dateien die du oft nutzt, werden dann auf die SSD geschoben und starten schneller, während andere Daten/Programme auf der HDD bleiben. Dies passiert von selbst im Hintergrund.
