iMac CPU-Volllast

Hi Leute!

Nachdem ich letztes Jahr die defekte HDD meines 21.5er iMacs aus 2011 Late 2012 gegen eine externe SSD „getauscht“ habe (die SSD ist per USB angeschlossen, während die interne HDD komplett ungenutzt ist), scheint sich der iMac nun langsam aber sicher komplett zu verabschieden.

Bei jeder etwas komplexeren Aufgabe springt die CPU-Auslastung des jeweiligen Prozesses auf Maximalwerte (95% - 110 (?) %). So ist das Arbeiten mit Lightroom komplett unmöglich, da bei jedem Verschieben eines Reglers direkt der Beachball kommt. Auch das Rendern von 85 RAWs zu JPEG dauerte rekordverdächtige 55 Minuten.

Auch scheint mir das ganze UI irgendwie nicht mehr smooth zu laufen. Animationen sind meist abgehackt.

Hat hier jemand eine Idee? Am liebsten wäre mir natürlich übergangsweise eine Softwarelösung. Ein Neukauf ist bereits in Planung, da sich eine Reparatur kaum mehr lohnt.

Wie hast Du die SSD angeschlossen? Firewire, ThunderBolt, USB? Falls per USB, dann ist das normal, weil der 2011er nur USB2 hat und damit die SSD ausbremst.

Gehäuse öffnen und einbauen ist die optimale Lösung.

Ja genau, aber das Modell hat schon 3.0. Es ist auch ein 2012er. Irgendwie hat sich 2011 in meinen Kopf geschlichen.

Die externe Lösung funktionierte auch wunderbar die letzten Monate.

Wie voll ist die Platte? Letztendlich wird am USB Port kein Trim unterstützt. Keine Ahnung ob meine Vermutung in der Richtung richtig ist. Habe noch nie über längere Zeit eine SSD am USB-Port betrieben.

Ich habe aktuell noch einen iMac 27 von 2011 und einen iMac von 2019 parallel in Benutzung. Auf dem 2011er ist Lightroom wirklich sehr langsam. Jede Veränderung im Bild benötigte 5-10 Sekunden um übernommen zu werden. Ich habe als erstes Lightroom deinstalliert und wieder installiert. Danach war es bzw. ist es etwas besser geworden. Eventuell wäre das eine Lösung.
