Daher folgende Fragen an Euch:
1. Welche der folgenden Punkte sind in AppleOS 27 bereits schon umgesetzt?
2. Vielleicht kann die Liste auch Inspiration geben für künftige Verbesserungen in AppleOS 27.
macOS/iOS/iPadOS/watchOS
App Messages:
In the messages app's search function, conversations are displayed with the timestamp 01/01/2001, even though these conversations never took place on that date (This applies in particular to text messages (SMS)). Furthermore, these conversations cannot be deleted. This software bug should be fixed as soon as possible.
App Podcasts:
If you go to the "Library" section in AppleOS Podcasts, create a new station, select "..." -> the "Manual Library Order" function will appear.
If you go to the "Library" section in AppleOS Podcasts, create a new station, select "..." -> "Station Settings" -> "Play" -> the "Manual Show Order" function will appear.
As I understand it, the "Manual Library Order" and "Manual Show Order" functions are one and the same. Why does AppleOS use two different names for the same function in one app? This makes no sense and only causes unnecessary confusion for customers (potentially leading to completely unnecessary calls to Apple Support).
Normally, the function mentioned above should be uniformly labeled "Manual Library Order" in the app Podcasts.
The following station function isn't working correctly: "Library" -> "Station Settings" -> "Play" > "Manual". The "Manual" function only works if the "Group by Show" function is also deactivated (which makes sense). Therefore, this function should be automatically deactivated by AppleOS when the "Manual" function is activated under "Station Settings," but this doesn't happen. Why is Apple unable to correctly implement this simple and, above all, logical function in the various AppleOS versions?
If you go to the "Library" section in iOS Podcasts, create a new station, select "Station Settings“ -> "Play" > "Manual" and then use the "Reorder Episodes" function to arrange the episodes, that specific order does not sync to other Apple devices—particularly not to watchOS. This is very frustrating, as it prevents you from freely choosing the playback order of podcasts in custom stations, especially on the Apple Watch. This functionality really needs to be added in the near future.
Why does the app Podcasts on AppleOS use the settings icon (a gear) for custom stations? This makes absolutely no sense, given that the gear icon is logically reserved for system settings. Why isn't there a suitable, dedicated icon for custom stations in the app Podcasts? Does Apple no longer value design and aesthetics?
If I create a „Play Next“ (queue list) in the app Podcasts, it doesn't sync to other AppleOS devices. In my opinion, this is a feature that definitely needs to be added.
In my opinion, the queue list „Play Next” should be added to the „Library“ section.
The app Podcasts isn’t listed under the app Settings in iCloud. Why? Instead, you have to go to the „Sync Library" option in the app Podcasts. This again shows how differently/inconsistently Apple handles the design of the individual apps.
App Books:
I would like to use the app Books in iOS/iPadOS more for reading foreign-language books. Unfortunately, the app does not have a translation function for whole sentences. Why isn't this feature implemented for Apple Books?
App Contacts:
The different positions of a contact card cannot be rearranged. In my opinion, this is a feature that should definitely be added.
Unfortunately, in the app Contacts, I can't individually specify whether a contact card's birthday is added to my birthday calendar ("Birthdays") in the app Calendar. In the app Calendar, I can only choose whether all or no birthdays are displayed. This is extremely annoying, especially when you have many contact cards with birthday entries. This feature should definitely be added to the app Contacts.
App Settings:
Settings of the individual apps with iCloud: it would be a great advantage if there was a function in iCloud that would also synchronize the individual settings of Apple apps on the different AppleOS (macOS, iPadOS, iOS, icloud.com, etc.). This way you wouldn't have to manually set the settings in the respective apps on the different AppleOS each time.
iOS/iPadOS
App Contacts:
For a long time now, the App Contacts in iOS and iPadOS has had the error that the address field contains the street position twice (in macOS the street position is correctly only once in the address field). This is incorrect because there is only one street for an address, and this can also lead to errors in the route guidance in the app Maps.
App Safari:
Sidebar -> View Large -> Right-click on a bookmark (in macOS Safari). Now I have the option to change or delete the description for the respective bookmark. Unfortunately, these changes are not synced to my other AppleOS 26 devices via iCloud. Furthermore, I cannot change or delete the descriptions for my bookmarks in Safari on my other AppleOS 26 devices (e.g. iOS/iPadOS 26), except in macOS Safari. All of these issues should be resolved as soon as possible.
macOS
App Contacts:
The „Look for Duplicates…" feature doesn't work correctly in macOS. Duplicate contact cards and duplicate entries are found even though they don't exist. If a contact card contains two different email addresses (e.g., [email protected] and [email protected] or [email protected] and [email protected]) and you select „Look for Duplicates..." under the contact card and then "Merge" the email address [email protected] or [email protected] will be deleted. This is a software bug and should be fixed as soon as possible.
The „Look for Duplicates..." function doesn't show exactly which duplicate contact cards and duplicate entries are present (if they are). This is extremely annoying because you have to search for them manually, which is very time-consuming.
The sharing function for a contact card is handled very poorly in macOS (compared to iOS/iPadOS). The sharing function should be handled the same way in macOS as it is in iOS and iPadOS: 1. Select the sharing function, 2. Select the contact information from the contact card to be shared, 3. Select the app/service with which the contact card should be shared. But this is not possible in macOS.
When I open a contact card using the "Edit" panel, enter a company name in the "Company" field, and check the box to the left of it, the generic company icon from the app Contacts (like in iOS and iPadOS) ought to appear next to the contact in the contact list. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen; instead, the standard contact photo for that contact appears.
All of these issues should be resolved as soon as possible.
iPadOS
App Calendar:
Unlike macOS and iOS, the app Calendar widget in iPadOS displays only two days in the right-hand column (this applies in particular to added calendars, for example contacts’ birthdays), instead of three as on macOS and iOS. This once again highlights the inconsistency with which Apple handles the same features across its various operating systems. This behavior of the Calendar app widget on the iPad should be changed.
WatchOS:
Here's a brief overview of my current situation with my Apple Watch:
I have organized my shows/episodes in the app iOS Podcasts using custom (self-created) channels. One channel is called "Sport," which organizes all the shows/episodes related to my sporting activities. If I now go on my iPhone to App Watch -> Podcasts -> ADD EPISODES FROM -> Sport, I can specify whether and how many unplayed episodes of this channel are automatically downloaded to the Apple Watch. I can't say whether the episodes are downloaded to my Apple Watch at iOS-specified intervals or according to some other principle, and I haven't been able to verify this yet.
Now, let's consider the following scenario: It's 7:30 a.m. in the morning, and at exactly this time, episode A is published in the app iOS Podcasts on my self-created channel „Sport“ . At 7:45 a.m., I want to start my exercise (e.g., jogging) and simultaneously want to listen to episode A of my channel „Sport“ on my Apple Watch while jogging. Unfortunately, the download of the episodes from my channel „Sport“ to my Apple Watch hasn't been done (even though my Apple Watch is connected to the power supply and my iPhone's podcast library is updated), so I can't yet listen to episode A of my channel „Sport“ on my Apple Watch while jogging. This is very annoying and frustrating, as this very relevant problem could easily be solved by, for example, a button (function) "Update channel Sport now and download episodes" under the iOS App Watch -> Podcasts -> ADD EPISODES FROM -> Sport -> "Update channel Sport now and download episodes," which would allow the update and download of channel’s Sport episodes on the Apple Watch to be initiated manually at any time.
This exact function on the iPhone: "iOS Watch app -> Podcasts -> ADD EPISODES FROM -> Sport -> Update channel Sport now and download episodes" is likely very easy to implement and would be of great benefit to Apple Watch users.
