"Server DOWN": Und nächtlich grüßt das Murmeltier...

Hallo zusammen,
ich stehe vor einem schweren Problem und komme offensichtlich allein nicht weiter.
Es geht um einen MacMini3.1 auf aktuellem Softwarestand 10.6.4.

Auf der Maschine laufen folgende Services:

• AFP
• Firewall
• Mail
• MySQL
• Open Directory
• Web
• SSH
• FTP

Mail ist erst in letzter Zeit dazugekommen.
Und um den Apache ein wenig Arbeit abzunehmen, habe ich ein frisches PHP 5.3.3 aufgesetzt um den eAccelerator aktivieren zu können. Das war's im Prinzip, was evtl. besonders erwähnenswert wäre. Aber ungefähr in dem Zeitraum trat das folgende Problem auf, aber ich sehe da keinen Zusammenhang.

Das Problem:
Es kommt in frustrierender Regelmäßigkeit vor, dass der Server keine Anfragen mehr von aussen annimmt.
SSH, WEB, FTP....alles tot.
Lediglich der PING kommt zurück, die Maschine wird zu einem Untoten, einem Zombie.
Dieser Effekt stellt sich bemerkenswerterweise immer nur nachts, bzw. in den frühen Morgenstunden ein, tagsüber ist alles Bestens. Da schnurrt die Maschine sauber vor sich hin.

Ich habe echt keinen blassen Schimmer, wo ich noch suchen soll.
Das es die Hardware selbst ist, möchte ich erstmal nicht glauben, das muss etwas anderes sein. Denn ansonsten würde der Rechner auch tagsüber Zicken machen, was aber niemals auftritt.

Ich weiß nicht warum, aber irgendwie "fühlt" sich das nach dem OpenDirectory an, ich kann aber nicht sagen woher das Gefühl kommt. Ich will damit aber niemanden beeinflussen, wollte es aber trotzdem erwähnen. Vielleicht passiert irgend etwas, wenn ein neuer Tag beginnt, oder was weiß ich.


Auch wenn ich selbst nicht gerne solche Trümmer-Listings in Foren lese, hier ein Fragment aus /var/log/system.log. Ich meine zu erkennen, dass kurz vor 07:30 Uhr das "irgendwas" passiert sein muss, da ab diesem Zeitpunkt der "dovecot" seine immer wiederkehrende Meldung bringt:

 imap-login: Timeout waiting for handshake from auth server.

Ein Zeichen dafür, dass die Maschine "innen" noch lebt, aber alle Verbindungen nach außen gekappt sind.
Erst ein Reboot kann diesen Sprung in der Schallplatte unterbrechen.

Hat irgendjemand einen solchen Effekt auch schon mal gehabt, bzw. hat jemand eine Idee was das Problem sein könnte?
Ich tappe echt im Dunkeln, bin aber fest davon überzeugt, dass die Ursache bestimmt trivial ist.
