Identifying your documents using properties
To make your documents easy to find and identify, you can use document properties. You can add information such as an author's name, comments, keywords, and more.
- To add specific information to each new document you create, choose TextEdit > Preferences and click New Document. Fill in the Author, Company, or Copyright information you want to use. You can add or change this information for individual documents.
- To add or change identifying information for a specific document, choose File > Show Properties and fill in the information you want to use. If you use Keywords, separate them with commas.
You can find specific files or groups of files by using Spotlight to search for properties. To learn more about using the Spotlight feature, look in Mac Help.
