Neues Macbook und Linux

Hallo Board,

bin neu hier und habe auch die Suche benutzt um vorher abzuklären ob diese Frage schon diskutiert wurde.

Also, die neuen MacBooks sind da und da ich sehr an einem interessiert bin, möchte ich wissen wie so die Linuxverträglichkeit ist. Hat also jmd. schon auf der neuen Hardware ein Ubuntu, Fedora, SuSE oder sonstiges Linux installiert? Wenn ja, wie siehts mit Grafik, Netzwerk oder Audio aus? Wie klappts mit dem Touchpad?

Wäre nett wenn jemand kurz antworten und eine Empfehlung abgeben könnte!

klappt einwandfrei bei mir. habe ubuntu in der virtualbox laufen.

Entschuldige, aber VirtualBox (und auch VMWare) simuliert einfach einen Standard-PC mit Standard-Hardware. Dass Ubuntu bei dir gut in einer virtuellen Maschine läuft, sagt also gar nichts darüber aus, wie gut Ubuntu direkt auf dem MacBook laufen würde.

sehr gut eet, da ich aber die frage gestellt hatte, wäre das mir zugestanden auf atomfried zu antworten. Wie läuft linux denn bei Dir eet?
Ich hab jetzt zwei antworten, die mir leider nicht weiter helfen. Ich meinte also nicht linux auf virtualisierter Hardware, Danke!!!

Da ich seit sechs Jahren keinen Mac mehr habe, konnte ich für dich nicht mehr tun als einen Hinweis auf den Unterschied zwischen der Erfahrung mit Linux auf virtuellen Maschinen und richtigen Macs zu geben.

für alle, die (Ubuntu) Linux auf dem Macbook Late 2008 installieren möchten, gibt es hier gute Hinweise: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook%20Aluminum Einiges scheint schon recht gut zu funktionieren, anderes aber noch nicht so gut. Schaut euch auch die verlinkten Threads an, da gibt's immer den aktuellen Status.

Viel Erfolg! Ich werde es am Wochenende mal probieren.

Short battery life (less than 2 hours!) under Ubuntu comparing with OSX. Comment: should improve by being able to change brightness, but it's not even close to OSX performance.

PowerTOP reports that the module for the 10/100/1000 interface wakes the processor 100+x/sec, accounting for >50% of wakeups on an idle system. This dramatically shortens battery life. One potential solution is to unload this module if you only use wireless.

MB5,1 get hotter in linux than in OSX

The system hangs sometimes while booting/shutting-down. Comment: Using the nvidia driver 177.80 on the MacBook Pro Aluminum, the system rarely hangs during the shutdown process.
Rebooting doesn't work. The computer stops just before reboot with the screen blank, but still active. Occasionally the screen is blank and also the internal speakers give out three or four short signals.

Sound is still not working even through head phones using instructions given.

I didn't install rEFIt before installing Ubuntu, and I accidentally installed GRUB to the MBR (default installation). This way I ended up with no bootable system at all. I could start into Ubuntu by inserting the CD and hitting the "Start from first hard disk" option, but there was no way to get into OS X (tried different possibilities with the OS X installation disc). Solution for me was to download the rEFIt ISO image in Ubuntu and burn it to a CD. Booting from that CD, I was able to resync my partition tables and boot into any OS. The next time I would prefer to install rEFIt beforehand and put GRUB into the Ubuntu partition

Das sind für mich leider noch paar Punkte... wo ich warte bis sie gefixed sind!
