Nur als Hinweis, der Beachball muss nicht bedeuten, das die Hardware zu schwach ist.
Die Frage wäre jetzt eher, wo, in welchen Programmen und vielleicht auch, was das Log anzeigt, wenn der Rechner oder ein Programm hängt, denn auch wenn du jetzt zum Beispiel aufrüstest, und es tatsächlich nur ein Programm oder dienst ist, der hängt, dann wird sich da auch mit mehr Reserven nichts an der Problematik ändern.
Als Nebenfrage, aus Etrecheck geht das nicht hervor, mit irgendwelcher Schadsoftware hast du nicht gewerkelt, ich meine damit, das das System mal mit Systemoptimierern, wie Cleaner, DrClean, OnyX, CleanMyMac oder ähnlichen in Kontakt kam?

Nein, von diesem ganzen Zeug habe ich die Finger gelassen. Es ist auch kein Virenscanner drauf. Das einzige, was ich habe, ist ADBlock in Safari, um diese teilweise sehr nervigen Werbeeinblendungen zu unterbinden.
Wie käme ich den ggf. an das Log? Gehts hier um die Aktivitätsanzeige?
Würde evtl. eine Neuinstallation etwas bringen? Hier wäre man ja dann wieder jungfräulich.

Hallo habe es gefunden und mir das einmal angeschaut. Konnte den anderen Tips und Hinweisen ja noch folgen. Bin hier aber restlos überfordert.
Das was Du, Macbeatnik, schreibst bezüglich hängender Programme bzw. Dienste in Verbindung mit Aufrüstung ist durchaus einleuchtend. Und doch hätte ich mir eine "Patentlösung" wie Austausch von Komponenten wie von Ottomane vorgeschlagen als wirksames Mittel gewünscht.
Bin jetzt hin und hergerissen und nicht wirklich schlauer. Den Austausch der Komponenten RAM und SSD traue ich mir nach dem Studium der entsprechenden Videoanleitungen durchaus zu.
Vielleicht sollte ich wirklich eine Ersatzbeschaffung ins Auge fassen.

So, habe mich Heute überwunden und einen kompletten Clean Install einschließlich Löschen der Festplatte durchgeführt.
Anschließend Programme einzeln aus dem App Store installiert.
Dann EtreCheck laufen lassen. Ergebnis deutlich verbessert.

Zur Zeit des etrecheck Berichtes lief auch noch die Neuanlage der fotolibrary, das könnte den Rechner auch in der Zeit verlangsamt haben, wenn dieser Prozess beendet ist sollte man die Geschwindigkeit nochmal testen, aber wenn der Rechner jetzt schon schneller läuft, dann wird vermutlich doch ein softwareseitigen Fehler vor.

Dann könnte ich ja jetzt den Austausch der HDD gegen eine SSD ins Auge fassen.
Welche würdet Ihr denn empfehlen? Hier ist immer von Samsung und Crucial die Rede. Mit leichter Tendenz zur Crucial.
Denke, dass ich mit einer um die 500 GB hin käme. Die meisten Daten und vor allem Fotos liegen auf einem NAS.
RAM erstmal lassen?
TimeMachine wird auf jeden Fall noch eingerichtet.

Welche Probleme zeigen sich denn?
Ansonsten hattest du Adware auf dem Rechner (jdibackup...) und die ist entfernt worden.
Problem ist, sofern kein anderes Backup vorliegt, das Timemachine nicht aktiviert ist ansonsten ist da auf dem ersten Blick nichts ungewöhnliches zu sehen.

Mein Rechner ist beim Aufstarten von Programmen und anderen Dingen immer wieder sehr langsam. Ein Backup habe ich aber.

Eventuell liegt es einfach an der verbauten HDD. Die ist im 2012er natürlich nicht mehr ganz so zügig.
Ich würde ein Upgrade auf eine SSD in Betracht ziehen. Damit hast Du dann Jahre noch Spaß mit Deinem iMac.

Stimmt, nach einem Neustart gehts nun flotter. Die Performance in EtreCheck hat von "too slow" auf "good" gewechselt.
Das erste Öffnen von Word nach dem Neustart dauert aber immer noch über 30'' - muss ich wohl so akzeptieren. Beim wiederholten Öffnen geht's dann ratzfatz.

Weist du was eine solche Aufrüstung etwa kostet?

Zusätzlich kannst du mal noch das Anti-Adware/Malware-Tool von Malwarebytes laufen lassen.

Nur für den Fall, dass EtreCheck nicht alles erwischt hat.

Und noch was anderes: Flip4Mac wird glaube schon eine Weile nicht mehr weiter entwickelt. Es könnte als Zeit sein sich nach einer Alternative umzuschauen.

Nachdem das MBP wunderbar lief mit Sierra ist es z.Z unerträglich mit dem Beatchball und starten jeglicher Anwendung.
Selbst *über diesen Mac* benötigt mehrere Anläufe bis etwas geschieht.
